The Luminous Protocol is a personalised red light therapy plan: built from your intake data, calibrated to your specific device, and cross-referenced against 8,000+ photobiomodulation studies. It is not a routine. It is a plan that accounts for your goals, your biology, and the actual output characteristics of the panel you own. Most people who start red light therapy apply the same session to everything: same duration, same distance, same routine, every day, regardless of what they're trying to achieve. That approach works for the manufacturer's FAQ. It rarely works for the person using it. The Luminous Protocol is built to close that gap. Here's exactly how it works.
Step 1: Choose your tier
The Protocol is available in three tiers, each designed for a different depth of personalisation and number of use cases:
Light: 3 use cases
The entry point. The Light tier applies targeted scientific analysis to three use cases you select, ideal for those starting their red light journey or optimising for a single primary outcome.
Core: 6 use cases
For those addressing multiple goals simultaneously. The Core tier covers six use cases with a deeper layer of scientific analysis, appropriate for anyone building a more comprehensive routine across several areas.
Master: 9 use cases
Full-spectrum personalisation. The Master tier covers nine use cases with the most thorough scientific depth available. Designed for advanced users, practitioners, and anyone optimising every aspect of their red light practice.
Each tier doesn't just add more use cases, it increases the depth of scientific analysis applied to your specific profile. The difference is not only in breadth. It's in precision.
Step 2: Complete your intake within the Theme Check
Once you've chosen your tier, you complete a structured intake questionnaire, the Theme Check. This is not a generic wellness survey. It captures the specific information needed to build a plan that works:
Your background: lifestyle, activity patterns, how long you've been using red light therapy and with what results.
Your skin composition: type, tone, and characteristics that directly affect how light is absorbed and what dose is appropriate.
Your desired benefits: the specific goals your Protocol should address: sleep, energy, recovery, skin health, joint support, body composition, or others within your selected tier.
Every answer directly shapes what you receive. The Theme Check is the input. The Protocol is the output.
Step 3: The Luminous Optimal Dose Engine
This is the engine built by Luminous Labs together with our research team. Drawing on over 8,000 existing photobiomodulation studies, it cross-references your intake data against the scientific literature to determine the precise parameters for your Protocol:
- Which wavelengths are appropriate for each of your use cases
- What dose, measured in J/cm², is optimal for your skin type and goal
- When and how long each session should be
- How frequently your Protocol recommends use across each goal area
This is not a personalisation algorithm built on preference data. It is scientific methodology applied to your specific profile, the same rigour used in clinical research, mapped to the reality of your daily life.

Step 4: Calibrated to your device
The final step in building your Protocol is calibration to the specific Luminous Labs device you own. Every panel has different output characteristics: irradiance, wavelength distribution, coverage area. A Protocol built for the Kini is not the same Protocol that works for a Pro Series 2.0 panel.
The Luminous Protocol accounts for this. Your session structure, dosage targets, and timing recommendations are calculated based on the actual output capabilities of your device, whether you're using the Kini, the Essential, the Essential Bundle, the Pro Series, any other Luminous Labs bundle, or Redgevity Master.
The result is a Protocol that works with what you have, not a hypothetical standard that assumes a device you don't own.
What you receive
A personal Protocol page, accessible via a secure login, containing your complete plan across all selected use cases. For each one:
- The scientific rationale behind every recommendation
- Your specific session parameters: wavelength, duration, dose target, timing, frequency
- Guidance that evolves as your goals do
One Protocol. Built on your data. Calibrated to your device. Backed by over 8,000 studies.

Frequently asked questions
What makes the Luminous Protocol different from a standard red light routine? A standard routine is built on generalised guidelines, typically 10–20 minutes per day at an unspecified distance, with no distinction between goals, skin types, or devices. The Luminous Protocol is built from your data: your intake, your biology, your device's actual output characteristics, and the specific outcomes you're working toward. The result is a set of session parameters that are precise rather than approximate.
How long does the Theme Check take? The Theme Check takes approximately 5–10 minutes to complete. It is the primary input that drives everything in your Protocol, the more accurately you answer, the more precisely your plan is calibrated.
Which Luminous Labs devices is the Protocol available for? The Luminous Protocol is currently available for the Kini, the Essential, the Essential Bundle, the Pro Series. Each Protocol is calibrated to the specific output characteristics of the device you select.
Is the Luminous Protocol a one-time purchase? Yes. The Protocol is a one-time purchase. Once built, it is accessible through a secure personal login and includes guidance across all use cases in your selected tier.
Can I upgrade my tier after purchasing? Yes. You can upgrade from Light to Core or Core to Master at any time. Your existing intake data carries forward, only the additional use cases require input.
What if I don't have a Luminous Labs device yet? You can complete your Protocol first and select your device as part of the process. Your Protocol will be calibrated to whichever device you choose, and you can acquire it alongside your Protocol or separately.
Choose your tier. Complete your intake. Receive your Protocol.
